Beside the beach or at the bar in your hometown, the perfect cocktail changes depending on where you are. GRID x Tanduay: Cocktail Culture is a series following Dondz Bolante around the Philippines as he crafts cocktails inspired by its different regions.

Sometimes the perfect cocktail is just waiting for you to come and get it–like that La Union getaway you’ve been craving. San Juan, La Union, has been known to inspire a heady kind of wanderlust with its enchanting beaches and cool, growing community of artists and surfers, just a quick 4-hour drive away from the city.

At the infamous area known as Beach Break, where the waves are good and rocky, Dondz whips up a drink of coconut cream and pineapple juice, something sweet to crave for once you’ve left the magic of La Union behind.

Beach Break


20ml Fresh Coconut Cream
60ml Pineapple Juice
Cherries in Syrup
60ml Tanduay Rhum
Pineapple Leaves
Nata de Coco
Cube Ice

How To Mix:
Mix 20ml fresh coconut cream, 60ml pineapple juice, and 2 bar spoons of cherry syrup. Add 60ml of Tanduay Rhum with ice and shake. Pour to glass, garnish with pineapple leaves, nata de coco, and cherry.

Sip and enjoy!
