The exciting city of General Santos, or GenSan for short, is the Philippines’ tuna capital but has shot to fame for something else: it’s the hometown of Manny Pacquiao, the world-class boxer and our country’s sporting hero, nicknamed The People’s Champ. Aside from an adventurous tour of the area’s mountains, caves, volcanoes, and dive spots, the city also offers tours of Pacquiao’s journey through his hometown.

It’s only fitting that mixologist Dondz Bolante took inspiration from him for his next drink that will add a nice punch to your visit. Named The People’s Punch, this smooth and creamy drink includes bananas, the production of which is also a main industry of GenSan. GRID x Tanduay: Cocktail Culture is a series following Dondz around the Philippines as he crafts cocktails inspired by its different regions.

The People’s Punch

4 Slices Banana
10ml Simple Syrup
20ml Lemon Juice
30ml Egg White
50ml Tanduay Rhum

How To Mix:
Combine all ingredients in a shaker tin and fill with crushed ice. Shake vigorously for ten seconds. Pour the mixture into a glass, leaving the ice in the shaker tin. Garnish the rim with a banana slice.

Sip and enjoy!
